Ok boys and girls...we have over 30 gift certificates to give away on May 17th...at the GHS Reunion....2- $50 gift cards from Bin 112 and 2 -$50 from The Strip Club...4 -$25.00 from Great Bay.....2 -$25 from the Mason Jar ..... $25 from Rhythm & Brews........Southern Tymes 2-$20....others have given a Cash donation to keep this event free......so please get out and make your dinner reservations for the night of....they love the oldies....let's show them how much we appreciate them!!" GHS Oldies Reunion 2014 is just around the corner May 16-17. We are in the process of hand delivering our letters to the sponsoring downtown businesses from last year. We hope that you all will be able to help us get the word out as we look forward to getting Greer natives back downtown for a fun filled weekend....starting with the Storytelling Event at the Stomping Grounds on the 16th.

We are t...hrilled that Jimmy Benson is going to be our Corporate Sponsor this year as we plan to help him celebrate 50 years in business in Greer to coincide with our weekend. We are also planning to showcase his collection of Antique Cars/plus replica of the old Lewis' Drive-in by touring the Museum Saturday morning, May 17th. Reunion invitees will have the rest of the day to do as they wish so we will encourage them to spend their time shopping and eating lunch downtown Greer! We have some wonderful gift baskets/certificates to be given away on the night of.

We have a band lined up for the Cannon on Sat evening starting at 7:30.....depending on the weather, we may have it on the deck.....playing oldies tunes, beach music and rock and roll. We are encouraging classes to get their reservation in early to all downtown restaurants-we want every restaurant filled!

The planning group is looking forward to another fabulous event! We would like to thank you in advance for your support and enthusiasm as we "oldies" (any Greer High Past Student/Spouse) promote our wonderful downtown as the only place to be this May!

Class of 1970.....Jan. 23-25 is the Kickoff 2014 for the upcoming weekend May 17, 2014 for the oldies reunion! We have some great fun planned all weekend, and we need you to spread the word......more details to follow but Thursday,  Jan. 23rd at Great Bay Oyster House where a fundraiser takes place once a month for the 3 different charities in Greer.... this month being Greer Relief...it is known as "Give a ShucK"...we have guest oyster shuckers who volunteer their time to come shuck oysters for a tip...all tips and a % of total food sales go to the charity chosen for the month......some of our oldies who will be shucking on the 23rd are Marney Hannon, Jerry Brown, Carl Howell, Gundy Stewart and Buddy Bowman..Alan Cole will emcee for us...big fun (you don't have to be an oyster fan to appreciate their handiwork!) On Friday, the 24th our wonderful banjo pickin an grinning, Steve Campbell and his band Northern Border will be playing down at Stomping Grounds on Trade......he brings in a packed house so get there early..if you love bluegrass be there!..then Saturday, January 25th.....some of the "bestest" and the funniest of GHS oldies get together to reminisce and tell old...really old, hilarious stories about the "good ole days"......if you want to hear Big Don Brown among many others tell their tales.....call Lisa Garland and make your reservation now(Stomping Grounds)...it was standing room only this past summer!! This January Oldies weekend will get you ready for our annual reunion that happens each year, the following SATURDAY after Mother's Day...so this year it will be May 17, 2014......mark your calendar now...you don't want to miss a bit of it!!
